You call it a trekking, overland, or bikepacking bike? We call it the down-to-earth Jordnära, because that's what it's meant to be for all riders. And although 27.5" or even up to 29" wheels fit in the frame, it comes equipped with good old 26" wheels. This is because we believe it's the best way to combine the requirements of a low standover height with the right bottom bracket height and modern geometry. The sturdy Manitou dual-crown fork not only offers excellent mounting options for bikepacking, but it's also the foundation for being able to adjust the length and front travel (Jordnära standard 120mm) at any time. Even if you decide a mullet with a 27.5" front wheel and maybe 140mm of travel is your thing, your Gyttja can handle it.
At the front, because the rear of the Jordnära is a hardtail, where the Swedish Docol Tube R8 steel shock absorbs and cushions your ride. High-quality, durable, and repairable – we offer a lifetime warranty on these components. You might be interested in the fact that we fill the top and down tubes with nitrogen for corrosion protection and to quickly and accurately detect any manufacturing defects or fatigue, but it's not essential. We love technology and simple solutions.
That's why the rear section is bolted on; it's easy to transport and repair, and allows for even drastic geometry changes even after purchase. The underlying principle was that we hate fiddly dropouts and believe a universal standard is the foundation for a long product lifespan. Therefore, we use a 142x12 mm rear axle with a UDH mount, typically with a CDX belt, but a chain is also possible, and a Neodrives rear motor can be installed without modifications. Belt tension is adjusted by moving the rear triangle and additionally by a spring-loaded tensioner pulley.
ABOUT NCCR
We manufacture and assemble all Gyttja bikes right here in Hälsingland, Sweden. We prioritize reliable construction and work with long-standing component suppliers. Our home trails start right behind the workshop. Feel free to visit us at Camp Gyttja for a test ride.
OUR FRAME
We use Docol Tube R8, an automotive-grade steel from the Swedish manufacturer SSAB. Strenx sheet metal and Toolox steel are also used for the other components. All Gyttja frames and bikes are compatible with Pinion, Neodrives, UDH, and DH forks. This allows you to easily upgrade or downgrade your bike at any time. Thanks to the removable rear triangle, the bike is particularly compact for transport and can be easily adapted to any need. The frame weighs 1950g, with the rear triangle adding another 1450g. The maximum total weight (bike with rider and luggage) is 180kg. We offer a lifetime warranty on our frames – no questions asked.
WHEELS & BRAKES
Gyttja bikes are equipped with Mach 1 rims from France. For brakes, you have the choice between Hayes Dominion and Hope. Magura is also available.
RIDER EQUIPMENT
The dropper seatpost, handlebars, pedals, grips, and saddle are from Ergotec, with a maximum load capacity of 6 (where possible). All components can be selected individually from the catalog.
PINION GEARBOX
All Gyttja bikes come standard with Pinion, Neodrive, and UDH gear systems. You have the choice between 9- and 12-speed systems; SmartShift is also available.
GATES BELT DRIVE
For low maintenance, all our bikes are equipped with a CDX belt drive with a spring-loaded belt tensioner. The design of our rear section allows for quick belt changes without opening the frame.
BATTERY (only if you've chosen SmartShift)
Pinion SmartShift battery, easily removable for charging.
COLORS
We offer Cerakote and powder coating options for the frame and rear section. Many standard RAL colors for powder coating are included in the base price (please ask for the complete list). Additional charges apply for Cerakote and special RAL colors. Valve pockets are available in various colors; we'd be happy to discuss the best color combination with you.
